Mark Ryan, LICSW
Mark (he/him) earned his Master of Social Work degree at Simmons College in 1998, and a Bachelor's from Brandeis University. He trained in The Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy Program at the Institute of Psychoanalytic Training and Research in New York City. Mark has had a thriving private practice in Brooklyn, NY for more than fifteen years, seeing children, adolescents, adults, and parents. He has also worked extensively in acute crisis care while at Boston Children’s Hospital Inpatient Psychiatric Service, in foster care settings, and in long-term residential treatment centers for adolescents with addictions.
Mark’s approach to clinical work is flexible and dynamic, understanding that creating a strong therapeutic alliance is crucial. He has extensive experience helping people struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, loss, life transitions, relationship troubles, and self-doubt. At the core of his work is a belief that a true understanding of one’s own story—the one we inherit and the one we tell ourselves—is key to unlocking a shift in perspective that can lead to lasting change.
Mark is licensed in both MA and NY. He provides individual and group supervision for Psychotherapy for Insight & Change.
