Tara Goodrich, Ph.D.

Tara (she/her) received her bachelor’s degree from Smith College, and obtained her Doctorate in Psychology from the Derner Institute of Adelphi University in 2002. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Columbia University’s Counseling and Psychological Services. She has worked extensively with children, adolescents, adults and parents in private practice since 2005. She is licensed in both NY and MA.

As a psychologist and parenting specialist, Tara’s goal is to provide her patients with guidance, support, and a deepening understanding of themselves. She is interested in the underlying motivations and meanings drawn from her patients’ childhoods and their everyday experiences. She uses compassion and humor in her work-  she has a unique capacity to empathize, and to help her patients feel a sense of hope, connection, and clarity. Her work is informed by psychoanalysis, poetry, meditation/mindfulness, and Buddhist thought.

In addition to 20 years of experience providing clinical treatment, Tara also supervises therapists in training, and leads parenting groups.
