Rachel Dress Snider, LICSW
Rachel (she/her) earned her Master of Social Work degree from New York University, and completed postgraduate certification in Adult Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy at Adelphi University. Rachel started her private practice in New York City in 2007, and has extensive experience working with older adolescents and adults of all ages, with a specialty focus on college students. She is licensed in both NY and MA.
Rachel’s approach to therapy and clinical supervision is rooted in her training as a psychoanalyst. This means that she pays special attention to unconscious processes (the thoughts, feelings, and experiences that are out of our awareness, yet still impact our moods, relationships, and choices). She believes it can be helpful to not only examine current obstacles, but to also draw links from our past, creating a full picture of how our present way of living actually came to be. With a deeper understanding of your life, new possibilities and choices emerge, providing the opportunity to more fully actualize how you want to live now.
In addition to supervising therapists at Psychotherapy for Insight and Change, Rachel is on the faculty at Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center (PPSC), where she teaches and supervises psychoanalytic candidates. She is also a faculty member at School of Visual Arts (SVA), where she teaches undergraduate psychology.
